  2. they aren’t bright enough to conceive of how high winds will produce the same effect as the aircraft speeding down a runway. I think the minimum takeoff speed of a fully equipped 747 is in the neighborhood of 160mph. so, naturally, if you have a plane without engines and other heavy equipment, with a center of gravity shifted toward the back, it is reasonable that you would see this with winds of 70mph.

  3. Strap a couple of tonnes worth of jet engines to the wings and then see if it does it… just don’t thinks so! However, very cool video none the less.

  4. I live 18 miles from here and I know the plane and I know mike. It is not fake. Every year Mojave gets 100mph wind gusts…….just awesome that Mike caught it.

  5. Thanks but i’m sure its a miniscule amount. As a matter of fact before the good ole usa „donates“ military war planes in pristine shape to israel-they declare them SCRAP METAL so it doesn’t look like we are giving brand new fighter jets to israel-which we are.The money amount never shows.

  7. Haha I live near here and the wind was blowing crazy hard last week so I believe it people that say its fake r fags that have never left there mothers basements

  8. Studying Aviation at a college level for half a year now AET205 215. To the people out there who say this is fake, learn the laws of physics, if you would you’d understand Bernoulli’s principle and how this would work.

  10. I got stuck in my 172 because I couldn’t open the door once because the winds were 80kts.. =P
Couldn’t risk turning sideways and using the vacuum to open the other door or else my plane would flip.

  12. @LightsOut1109, extremely windy there. Plus, the aircraft wasn’t tied down and with the flaps deployed, the wind was enough to push the front up. If you were an engineer you would know Bernoulli’s principle. You would know that this aircraft, regardless of weight is built to use minimal airflow for the aircraft to become airborne. This is why we tie down smaller aircrafts, otherwise in winds like this, it would have been tossed around, unlike a car.

  13. Ok all you idoits that say its fake look to the left of the plane where there are 3 plane parts 2 blue 1 white there rolling back and forth on the ground how many things do y’all have to see moving before you stop being idiots???

  14. It would be interesting to know what the registration of this plane is – do you by chance know its N***SA number is? She still shows her grace, though – ALWAYS has been and always will be the queen of the skies!

  15. As someone who has lived in that area for close to 30 years, I will say that all the non-believers are complete idiots who obviously have never been through the Mojave Desert during this time of year.

  16. When have you ever felt wind that came from above your head and pushed down on you? Why doesn’t having no engines and full flaps on a windy day make more sense to you?

  17. Too bad you received „too many negative votes“ but, I understand your point which is a valid argument. With a strong airflow over the horizontal-stabilizer, a downward force is applied. This causes the fuselage to rotate nose up.

Collectively having partial flaps extended, no engines, and a gutted airframe help position the Boeing in a climb-attitude.

  18. you’re an idiot, if you cant even come up with the correct names for parts of the plane, SHUT UP! The little „wings“ are called horizontal stablizers, above it is a vertical stablizer, the flap on the vertical is called at rudder. This plane is parked, full flaps with no engines, therefore the front end is extremely „light“. How do you think planes fly? It’s called LIFT! Not from the wind pushing down. MORON!

  19. Here’s an idea: Put a tow rope on it and reinstall the APU for hydralics. Have another 747 pull it and voila: instant Horsa Glider. Imagine, double the capacity for half the gas 😉

  21. The CG can’t be „well aft“ of the main gear or it would have tipped back on its tail even when there is no wind. The CG has to be just in front of the main gear, but close enough that the weight on the nose gear is pretty low.

  23. i thought they were going to try to do take off from standing position until i noticed the missing engines, tho i’d like to see the engines that can manage such thrust to make it take off from a standing position.

  24. Yes aircraft fly because of lift, but aircraft also have a tendency to have a pitching moment which points the nose down. This would result in the aircraft losing altitude, so therefore another pitching moment is required to counteract this motion, which is what the horizontal stabilizers are for. They push down on the rear of the aircraft, which in turn points the nose up, stabilizing the flight. Pure torques and physics.

  25. I can’t believe the idiots that think this was faked , The one I’ll say about the flaps is that they were drooping as opposed to being deployed. But anyone who fly’s or has been on a plane in high winds even on the groiund know this happens all the time. It was a matter of weather vaning“ just like your little wind sock at home. For me it shows that (because it didn’t strike the tail) that this airplane is incredibly balanced and the only reason this doesn’t happen everyday at an airport near

  28. They talked about this on the news this morning. It was pretty light, since it was being dismantled, had its engines removed, and from the position of the flaps, it was „catching lift“, just as if it was taking off. Employees checked it the next day and found that it had actually moved 45 degrees from where it was originally parked.

  30. Some see a silly video of a scrap airplane flailing in the wind. I see an accidental video capture of something that is actually amazing, beautiful, inspiring and heartbreaking.
