Definitely a key in there. Never see the bottom of the lock with the double shim. Shady.

before opening the code lock, you can see he turns the combination dial as it unlocks. he prepared it so it needed just one more slight turn, which you can see he does right before it opens. well done sir

for the pad locks with keyholes, I far prefer picking the lock. a 5 dollar lockpick set the size of a credit card will take 15 seconds to take out, 10 seconds to crack the lock if you’re practiced, and 20 seconds or so to put it away and slip inside.

just a note: shimming a key padlock is VERY difficult (for me anyway) when it is attached to something. It is far easier (again for me) to simply pick the lock. Of course, if it is a combo, go for the shim

Using stainless steel shims with the shim tips coated with grease makes this proceedure FAR easier and quicker.

Shimming locks is an old locksmithing technique. Back in the day Brass shim material was used, it’s more rigid and can be thinner than soda cans.
