@normtheclone Punk is less mainstream and often more experimental. Metal however, generally follows standard song structure. But perhaps the greatest difference between punk and metal is the philosophy behind the 2 genres. Punk is associated with world peace, animal rights, altruism, environmentalism, leftism, anarchism, communism, etc. Many “punks” are political/social activists. Metal, on the other hand, often encourages violence, hedonism, and hate. Personally, I LOVE both punk and metal.
