  1. Destructoid sent me here.
And do you have any plans of releasing it for the Android if the game is successful enough? I would gladly buy it in a heartbeat.

  2. That looks pretty awesome o.o I just wish it’d come out for Android as well (specifically with D-Pad support on devices with a D-Pad or Bluetooth controller) but it still looks neat!

  3. Loving the look/feel of the game and the twist seems to keep it fresh. Will be keeping my eyes on this and is sure to be an insta buy for me 🙂

  4. 1-bit Ninja will not be a universal app as I have some big plans for an iPad specific version that goes beyond just upping the resolution etc.

  5. @StudioVincent just forward, however there are elements in the levels such as springs and moving platforms that enable the play to change direction/move left.

  6. I’m pretty excited about getting to play this game. Looks great! I will say, though, that the player sprite is kinda hard to read. For a while it looked like an armless guy with pigtails wearing parachute pants, rather than a ninja hunched forward. Then again, a lot of Gameboy sprites were like that, so maybe it’s intentional 😉

Also, was it tough getting the sides of the level geometry to be hidden in 2D view? I imagine there’s some kind of trick involved.

  7. @Aotommo the sprites are 1-bit (black/white only) and just 10×10 pixels big, detail and animation are a challenge for sure! The trick to hiding the geometry in 2D view is very simple… the entire game is rendered using an orthographic projection. When you find all 5 hidden ‚big bits‘ in a level you unlock an optional perspective mode that switches out the orthographic projection for a regular perspective one and changes the players view to something more akin to Little Big Planet.

  9. @StudioVincent Wait for Steve Jobs to introduce buttons as the Next Great Original Idea From Apple and then you will be able to move to the left like you never thought possible before!

  10. O.O wow. looks better than I thought it would. not enough for me to cave it to popular culture and get an iphone though. is this only on the appstore or can i get it for android?

  11. Just got this for my iPad, and i have to say it is very addictive, great music and levels as well. The upscale the iPad produces still makes this a great game. Thank you kode80!

Reminiscent of the old mario gameboy games but with a texture twist, $1.99 totally worth it.
